Tinubu Forms 6-Member Presidential Panel for Social Investment Programs
This panel, led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, is tasked with conducting a thorough review and audit of the financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programs.
After a six-week suspension of four programs within the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the creation of a Special Presidential Panel.
This panel, led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, is tasked with conducting a thorough review and audit of the financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programs.
The objective is to implement a comprehensive re-engineering of the financial architecture with detailed modifications to enhance program implementation procedures moving forward.
As outlined in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the six-member Special Presidential Panel includes ministers from strategic sectors.
The members are the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, as chairman, and Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, as a member.
Other panel members comprise Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and Minister of State for Youth.
President Tinubu expects the Special Presidential Panel to restore public confidence in these crucial programs by ushering in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks.
The aim is to create systems impervious to abuse and incompetence, exclusively benefiting disadvantaged households across the nation.
