Tinubu : Customs reforms will boost trade, strengthen border security

President Bola Tinubu has stated that recent reforms in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) are expected to boost trade and improve border security across the country.
Speaking in Abuja at the opening of the comptroller-general of customs conference, Tinubu, represented by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, noted that these reforms align with his administration’s goal to strengthen Nigeria’s economy through industrialization and diversification.
He highlighted initiatives like the advanced ruling system and the authorized economic operator program as examples of efforts to modernize customs operations in line with global standards.
These changes, Tinubu said, are aimed at making business more predictable, increasing Nigeria’s global business ranking, and raising revenue for development projects.
Since Tinubu took office, over $30 billion in foreign investment commitments have been secured, reflecting increased confidence from both local and international investors.
He urged conference attendees to develop a roadmap for improving trade processes while ensuring robust border security, supporting Nigeria’s broader economic goals and regional integration efforts.
