Tinubu Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Democracy in Africa Through AU Collaboration
During a meeting with Azali Assoumani, President of Comoros and AU Chairperson, Tinubu emphasized the AU’s strategic role in shaping Africa’s global economic and socio-political relations, with Nigeria’s backing.
Tinubu, Nigeria’s President, has pledged support for the African Union (AU) in achieving democratic stability in Africa.
During a meeting with Azali Assoumani, President of Comoros and AU Chairperson, Tinubu emphasized the AU’s strategic role in shaping Africa’s global economic and socio-political relations, with Nigeria’s backing.
He stressed the importance of freedom and constitutional order for development and commended the AU’s peace efforts in regions like the Sahel and Sudan.
Tinubu highlighted the need for stability and prosperity for Africa and expressed Nigeria’s willingness to collaborate. Both leaders agreed on the significance of joint efforts to ensure continental stability and discussed Nigeria’s expertise in diversity management, electoral reforms, and economic growth.
The meeting took place during the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, where Tinubu also met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to explore mutual investment opportunities.
