Tems, the Grammy-winning artist, has set a record as the Nigerian female artist with the highest streaming day on Spotify.

Her debut album, “Born In The Wild,” released on Friday, garnered 5.33 million global streams on its first day. Including her other works, she amassed 8.028 million streams, a new record for a Nigerian female artist.

The 18-track album features collaborations with Nigerian singer Asake on “Get It Right” and US rapper J. Cole on “Free Fall,” along with previously released singles “Me & U” and “Love Me Jeje.” Other tracks include “Born In The Wild,” “Special Baby,” “Burning,” and “Wickedest.”

This album follows her 2020 rise to fame with Wizkid’s “Essence” and her debut EP “For Broken Ears.” In February 2023, she won a Grammy for “Best Melodic Rap Performance” for her role in “Wait for U” by Future featuring Drake. She also received the “Breakthrough Award” at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

Recent Spotify data shows Tems added to over 21.4 million playlists in the past year. Her audience is 50% male and 47% female, with the core age group being 23-27 (32%), followed by 28-34 (23%).

Top countries streaming her music include the US, UK, Canada, Nigeria, and Australia. Her top-streamed songs in the last 28 days are “Love Me Jeje,” “Me & U,” “Higher,” “Free Mind,” “Fountain,” “Found” featuring Brent Faiyaz, and “Damages.”
