Tems postpones music video release over #EndBadGovernance protest
Tems, the renowned Nigerian singer, has postponed the release of her highly anticipated music video for her song “Burning” due to the ongoing nationwide protests.
On Thursday, young Nigerians initiated a nationwide protest against economic hardship and rising inflation across the country.
The protests, dubbed “10 Days of Rage,” are being promoted with the hashtag #EndBadGovernance.
In a post on X, Tems announced her decision to delay the release to stand in solidarity with the protesters.
She also expressed her prayers for the safety of those involved and hoped their voices would be heard.
“Out of respect for the ongoing protest at home, I have decided to postpone the release of the ‘Burning’ music video. Praying for the safety of those outside at this time. May the voice of the people be heard️,” she wrote.
“Burning” is a track from Tems’ debut album “Born In The Wild,” released on May 31.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, rose to prominence in 2020 through her collaboration with Wizkid on the song “Essence.”
In the same year, she released her debut extended play (EP) titled “For Broken Ears.”
She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her talent.
Last year, the songstress won her first Grammy award for her contribution to “Wait for U,” the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
