Supreme Court Rejects Petition Questioning Tinubu’s Election Over Electronic Result Transmission
Atiku’s lead counsel, Chris Uche, SAN, had filed a 35-point appeal, challenging the tribunal’s decisions regarding electronic result transmission, Tinubu’s eligibility for the election, Federal Capital Territory votes, and more.
The Supreme Court has rejected a petition attempting to invalidate President Tinubu’s election on the grounds of alleged non-compliance with electronic result transmission.
Atiku’s lead counsel, Chris Uche, SAN, had filed a 35-point appeal, challenging the tribunal’s decisions regarding electronic result transmission, Tinubu’s eligibility for the election, Federal Capital Territory votes, and more.
He had requested the Supreme Court to overturn the lower court’s judgment.
However, the Supreme Court, in its ruling on Thursday, made the following points:
a. When the electronic result transmission system (IREV) fails, it doesn’t halt the collation of results.
b. The malfunction of IREV doesn’t undermine voters’ confidence.
In light of these factors, Justice Okoro dismissed and rejected the application.
