Supreme court gives judgement on Nassarawa Guber Tussle
In the judgment delivered on Friday, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the lead judgment, stated that the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of Sule’s election was “comprehensive and well considered.”
The Supreme Court has upheld Abdullahi Sule as the duly elected governor of Nasarawa state.
In the judgment delivered on Friday, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the lead judgment, stated that the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of Sule’s election was “comprehensive and well considered.”
As a result, the apex court’s five-member panel dismissed the appeals filed by David Ombugadu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the previous elections.
In March 2023, INEC declared Sule the winner with 347,209 votes, while Ombugadu came second with 283,016 votes.
Despite the PDP candidate’s dissatisfaction and claims of irregularities, the Supreme Court’s recent decision solidifies Sule’s position as governor, overturning previous challenges.
