Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has appealed to well-wishers to refrain from erecting congratulatory billboards in his honor.
These billboards have been displayed to celebrate his appointment as the FCT minister. In a statement released on Sunday, Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press in the minister’s office, conveyed that while Wike is grateful for the warm wishes and support from the public, he urges an end to such billboard displays and advertisements.
Ogunleye stated, “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has become aware of lamp post billboards, as well as full-scale billboards and other advertising materials extending congratulations for his ministerial appointment.
The minister appreciates the overwhelming goodwill from both FCT residents and others, and he recognizes the sentiment underlying these congratulatory gestures, which deeply move him.”
However, he continued, “In the interest of public service and his dedication to his responsibilities, the minister wishes to direct his complete attention towards supporting President Bola Tinubu in achieving his vision and the renewed agenda of hope for Nigeria.”
Ogunleye concluded by affirming that the minister eagerly anticipates collaborating with stakeholders to contribute to a prosperous future for the FCT.
