Nigerian singer Simi, whose full name is Simisola Kosoko, recently addressed comments made by fellow musicians Samklef (Samuel Oguachuba) and Brymo (Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ) that have stirred controversy.

During an interview with Angela Yee on her show “Way Up,” Simi explained that she couldn’t quite understand why Samklef and Brymo had made remarks implying they had romantic feelings for her. Simi’s husband, Adekunle Gold, has been actively defending her throughout the ongoing discussions.

Simi dismissed the comments from Samklef and Brymo as nonsensical and said they felt more comedic than anything. When asked about her response to the remarks, Simi said, “I really don’t know why they keep talking about me, but I don’t give much thought to it because it doesn’t affect me. My husband defends me as he should, and I appreciate the support from fans who ask why these men are speaking about me in this way. Respect me because I deserve respect, not just because I’m married.”

The issue started when Samklef publicly revealed that he had once had a crush on Simi but chose to maintain a professional relationship instead. He also criticized Simi, calling her and fellow artist Ric Hassani the “most ungrateful artistes” he’d worked with. In response, Adekunle Gold quickly defended Simi and told Samklef to stop disrespecting her.

Samklef, however, hit back, claiming he made Simi cry. Brymo faced backlash too when he shared an audio clip where he allegedly asked Simi for sexual favors in exchange for a music collaboration, which she strongly rejected. Adekunle Gold then stepped in, warning both Samklef and Brymo to stay away from his wife and stop disrespecting his family.
