Shops destroyed as fire guts Owode Market in Offa
A blaze has engulfed numerous shops containing merchandise worth millions of naira at Owode Market in Offa, Kwara State.
The fire erupted in the early hours of Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Emergency responders from both the Federal Fire Service and Kwara State Fire Service managed to extinguish the flames.
A trader suggested in a video that excessive lighting may not be the cause, speculating instead that it might have originated from cooking activities.
The incident reportedly impacted at least five shops, with the full extent of damages yet to be determined.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, awaiting an official statement from the fire service.
