Shettima to represent Tinubu at 3rd Belt, Road Forum in China

Shettima is set to represent Bola Tinubu at the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China, from October 16 to 18, as announced by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President.

At the forum, Shettima will join leaders from more than 130 countries to discuss the theme of “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity.”

His primary objective is to attract investors for development projects in Nigeria and strengthen trade and investment relations with other world leaders.

The Belt and Road Initiative, initiated by President Xi Jinping of China, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and focuses on global infrastructure development. Nigeria, among other countries, is expected to benefit from this initiative, particularly in infrastructure investments. The Nigerian delegation to the forum includes key ministers and officials.

Additionally, Vice President Shettima will travel to the United States to deliver a keynote address at the African Development Bank (AfDB) and World Food Prize’s Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, starting on October 24, 2023.

During this event, he will discuss the reforms being implemented in Nigeria’s Agrifood sector under the Tinubu administration, aiming to attract investments and partnerships for the country’s food security and diversification efforts.

Many high-profile international leaders have previously addressed this event, including Kofi Annan, John Kufuor, Akinwunmi Adesina, Olusegun Obasanjo, and others. Numerous meetings and engagements are scheduled during this international trip. Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after fulfilling his commitments in the United States.
