Senate To Begin Screening Of Ministerial Nominees Tuesday

The Senate will commence the screening of seven newly nominated ministers on Tuesday, as recently announced by President Bola Tinubu. This follows President Tinubu’s request for the Senate to confirm these ministerial nominees.
Shortly after their nomination last week, the President formally reached out to the Senate, urging lawmakers to evaluate and confirm the seven nominees for ministerial appointments.
The nominees include Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour & Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), and Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade, and Investment). Others are Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Suwaiba Ahmad (State Education).
This request comes after Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle. The President removed five ministers, reassigned ten, and introduced seven new appointees.
Among those removed are Uju-Ken Ohanenye, previously Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
