Senate Confirms Ned Nwoko’s Defection to APC

The Senate has officially confirmed the defection of Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This follows his recent resignation from the opposition party.
In his defection letter, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Nwoko attributed his decision to the worsening internal crisis within the PDP, which he said threatens his political future.
His announcement was met with loud cheers as he moved to the majority wing of the Upper Chamber.
Beyond his defection, Nwoko called on the Senate to establish an ad hoc committee to investigate the ongoing crisis in the PDP.
He stressed the importance of a strong opposition in maintaining Nigeria’s democratic balance.
