S’Court Reserves Judgment on Plateau Guber Election Appeal
A panel of five justices, led by Justice John Okoro, opted to reserve judgment following presentations from both sides.
The Supreme Court has deferred its decision on the appeal lodged by Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, challenging the Court of Appeal’s annulment of his election.
A panel of five justices, led by Justice John Okoro, opted to reserve judgment following presentations from both sides.
Governor Mutfwang, represented by counsel Kanu Agabi, urged the court to uphold the Tribunal’s ruling and overturn the appellate court’s decision, arguing that the respondents lack the authority to question the party’s internal executive selection process.
In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate contended that Mutfwang’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) disregarded a court order mandating them to conduct congress in 17 local governments, conducting only five before the March governorship election.
