Saudi Arabia to open First Alcohol Store for Non-Muslim Diplomats
The move aims to curb the illicit trade of alcoholic products received by diplomatic missions. Access to the store requires registration through a mobile app, obtaining a clearance code from the Foreign Ministry, and adherence to monthly purchase quotas.

Saudi Arabia is set to open its inaugural alcohol store in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarters exclusively catering to non-Muslim diplomats.
The move aims to curb the illicit trade of alcoholic products received by diplomatic missions. Access to the store requires registration through a mobile app, obtaining a clearance code from the Foreign Ministry, and adherence to monthly purchase quotas.
Notably, individuals under 21 or guests are prohibited from accompanying authorized visitors to the store.
Saudi Arabia has maintained a ban on alcohol since 1952, with severe penalties for its consumption, including lashes, fines, imprisonment, and deportation for expatriates.
