No fewer than 500 widows have received relief cash from Saka Eletu foundation first empowerment programme.
The empowerment programme which was in collaboration with YES Movement was held on Sunday at St Joseph Nur/Pry school, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara state.
Speaking with newsmen after the programme, the founder of the foundation, Hon Saka Yusuf Eletu said the empowerment was purposely to provide support and assistance to the widows.
He said: “There’s no special reason than we need to support the widows, times are hard now and we need to look for ways to provide relief for them.
Eletu however, urged people to extend the gesture, noting that widows needed maximum support in our society.
On her part, Kwara PDP Stalwart; Hajia Sarat Ibrahim Adebayo in her address, commended eletu for providing succour to the widows, charged him not to relent in his benevolent gesture.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed delight and Profound appreciation to Eletu for his benevolent gestures, noted that the cash will be of good benefit to them.
