Sadiya Umar Farouq denies links to contractor ‘arrested over N37bn fraud’
Okwete’s arrest is reportedly linked to an ongoing investigation into the humanitarian affairs ministry.

Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former minister of humanitarian affairs, rejects any association with James Okwete, a contractor arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N37 billion money laundering scheme.
Okwete’s arrest is reportedly linked to an ongoing investigation into the humanitarian affairs ministry.
Farouq, responding to reports connecting her to Okwete, asserts that she has no knowledge of him and vows to explore legal options against what she calls a baseless attack on her reputation.
Farouq served as the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development from 2019 to 2023.
