Rema, Shallipopi Collaborate on New Single ‘Benin Boys’

Nigerian singers Rema and Shallipopi have joined forces for a new single titled ‘Benin Boys’.

The 24-year-old artists from Benin announced the song’s release on streaming platforms on Friday.

In ‘Benin Boys’, Rema and Shallipopi celebrate their achievements and highlight their rich cultural heritage, values, and community.

“Touchdown Benin boys, gen-gen-gen/ Money yapa, money repete confirm/ Remy Ekehuan road/ Shalli Sapele ayy Santa Monica touchdown/ shekens clear road/ They dey like to dey dance the legbeegbe eh/ Na we dey bully, na we dey pepper say/ If you play with the boys, you go collect/ See doings, you no fit talk say we no get,” they sing.

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, signed with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019. He has since become a leading figure in the African music scene, winning ‘Best Male Artiste’ and ‘Digital Artiste of the Year’ at the 16th Headies.

Shallipopi, born Crown Uzama, gained fame with his debut single ‘Elon Musk’ in March 2023. His music has been well-received, and he has released other popular tracks such as ‘Obapluto’, ‘Cast’, ‘Ex-Convict’, and ‘Oscroh’.
