Real Madrid’s La Liga Match Against Valencia Postponed Due to Fatal Floods

Real Madrid’s away match against Valencia in La Liga this weekend has been postponed by the Spanish football federation due to devastating floods that have resulted in over 95 fatalities.
Additionally, Villarreal’s home game against Rayo Vallecano has also been suspended following the severe flash floods in eastern Spain.
La Liga requested the Spanish football federation (RFEF) to delay the matches of Valencia and Villarreal scheduled for Saturday, along with three second division games involving teams from the affected regions.
In a statement, the RFEF announced, “It has been agreed to postpone matches in both professional and non-professional competitions, including 11-a-side and indoor football in the Valencia region.”
The federation had previously postponed several midweek Copa del Rey first-round matches, including Valencia’s encounter with Parla Escuela.
This weekend, a moment of silence will be observed at matches across Spain in memory of the flood victims, including at the Catalan derby between league leaders Barcelona and Espanyol on Sunday.
