Politicians Won’t Influence Us – New CBN Gov, Cardoso

Dr. Yemi Cardoso, the newly appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has made a firm commitment to resist political influence during his tenure.

He assured that both he and his team would not allow politicians to interfere with their responsibilities.

Dr. Cardoso conveyed this assurance while undergoing the screening process for his appointment in front of the Senate, which took place in Abuja. Senate President Godswill Akpabio had posed the question of whether he would succumb to political pressure once in office.

In response, Governor Cardoso emphasized the gravity of the position and the trust placed in those nominated for it.

He acknowledged the rigorous selection process that led to his nomination and made a resolute statement: “Under my leadership, we will remain impervious to external influences. Our paramount objective is to ensure that we consistently make sound decisions in accordance with the principles of timeliness and correctness. We have witnessed the detrimental consequences of deviating from the path of righteousness, and we are resolute in preventing any repetition of such errors.”
