A police officer in Adamawa, Mahmood Muhammed, was overcome with emotion and cried after being dismissed from the police force by the Adamawa state command.

In a viral video, Muhammed can be seen tearfully having his police cap, belt, and shirt removed by a superior officer.

The dismissal follows an announcement by the Adamawa police command that two officers, Ahmed Suleiman and Mahmood Muhammed, were dismissed due to allegations of homicide, character defamation, and misuse of authority.

The officers had been attached to the Dumne divisional police headquarters. The dismissal came after an orderly room trial, during which the officers were found guilty and recommended for dismissal.

The officers will also face legal charges. The police commissioner in the state, Afolabi Babatola, has cautioned officers to avoid indiscipline.

Additionally, the acting inspector-general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, warned against police extortion and harassment of commuters on highways, stating that officers engaging in misconduct will face serious disciplinary actions.
