Police Launch Cybercrime Reporting Platform for Nigerians

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has introduced a new digital platform for reporting cybercrimes.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, announced on Thursday that the platform would aid in combating cybercrime and enhancing the safety and security of the country’s digital space.
Adejobi highlighted that the upgraded domain (nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin) includes advanced security measures to protect user information and ensure confidentiality.
“The new reporting platform, managed by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), is accessible at: [nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin],” said Adejobi.
The spokesperson noted that this new domain replaces the previous site, incb.npf.gov.ng, and features improved tracking and response mechanisms to ensure prompt and effective action on reported cases.
He also mentioned that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has encouraged the public to use the new platform for reporting cybercrime activities.
In February, President Bola Tinubu signed the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, into law, updating several sections of the 2015 Cybercrimes Act.
However, stakeholders have expressed concerns that security agencies are using the Cybercrimes Act to target journalists and activists.
