Pochettino reveals why Chelsea lost against Aston Villa
The decisive goal, scored by Ollie Watkins, came in the second half. During the encounter, Malo Gusto received a red card, which, according to Pochettino, altered the game’s trajectory.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has offered an explanation for his team’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their recent Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.
The decisive goal, scored by Ollie Watkins, came in the second half. During the encounter, Malo Gusto received a red card, which, according to Pochettino, altered the game’s trajectory.
In his post-match press conference, Pochettino pointed out that Chelsea had missed opportunities to score against Unai Emery’s team and had encountered some unfortunate moments against their opponents.
Pochettino stated, “In the first half, I believe we deserved more. We began the second half strongly, but the game changed after the red card. Our performance was decent, though not exceptional, but we struggled to find the net.”
He continued, “We’ll start preparing for Wednesday’s match tomorrow and hope to improve our scoring. We did have some unlucky moments. Despite being down to 10 men, we managed to push Aston Villa back and create numerous scoring opportunities.”
