Planned protest is for the poor, I’m now rich – Portable Says
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has commented that the upcoming nationwide protest is aimed at poor Nigerians.
The protest, themed #EndBadGovernance, is scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 10, 2024.
The planned protest has been a hot topic in the media over the past week.
In a viral social media video, Portable explained that he joined the 2020 #EndSARS protest because he was poor at the time.
He pointed out that billionaires like Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola do not participate in protests.
“They said I joined the protest in 2020. That was then, poor thinking! Now that I have money, I am thinking like a wealthy person,” he said.
“Have you ever seen Otedola and Dangote protesting? You won’t see people like Dele Momodu. Better mind your business! I didn’t have money back then. I’m now thinking like a rich man.”
Portable previously announced that he would not be joining the protest because he is now financially comfortable.
Portable rose to fame in 2021 with his hit single ‘Zazoo Zeh’, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
