In preparation for the upcoming by-elections on February 3, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a timetable outlining activities for candidates vying for Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assemblies seats.
The schedule, signed by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, indicates that the sale of nomination forms begins on December 28, 2023, and concludes on January 3, 2024.
Primary elections are set for January 9, 2024. The PDP has set the cost of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at N3.5m, N2.5m, and N600,000 for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly, respectively.
Female aspirants and individuals with disabilities pay for nomination forms only, while those under 40 receive a 50% discount on nomination forms.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated February 3, 2024, for these by-elections, prompted by resignations or deaths of members in two Senatorial Districts, four Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies across nine States.
