The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised the decision of the election petition tribunal in Nasarawa that invalidated Abdullahi Sule’s victory.

On Monday, the tribunal overturned Sule’s election as Nasarawa’s governor and declared David Ombugadu, the PDP candidate, as the winner of the March 18th election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initially declared Sule, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner with 347,209 votes, while Ombugadu came second with 283,016 votes according to INEC.

In their ruling, two of the tribunal’s justices, led by Ezekiel Ajayi, declared Ombugadu as the winner, with one judge dissenting.

In a statement congratulating Ombugadu, the PDP hailed the verdict as an “impeccable judgment” and described it as a “victory for democracy and the will of the people of Nasarawa in their pursuit to free their state from corruption and manipulation.”

The statement issued by Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, further stated, “This Tribunal judgment emphasizes the importance of the judiciary as the ultimate guardian of justice and the will of the people.”

The PDP urged the people of Nasarawa to remain united and peaceful as they enter a “new era” in their state.
