PDP Ajikobi Central ward empowers widows, youths with relief items, cash

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ajikobi Central ward on Sunday empowered Widows, Oldies and Youths with Relief items and Cash grants.

The beneficiaries who were drawn from Abemi/Ita Merin Community received their packages at Abata Baba Oyo Pry Sch in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara state.

The gesture which was tagged “operation feed the needy” was sponsored by Engr. Abdulraheem Aduagba in honor of the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Ilorin West/Asa federal constituency, Hon. Muhammed Ibrahim Ajia.

Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the program, the team lead, Mr. Olarewaju Kamaldeen who is also the Deputy Chairman of PDP Ajikobi Central ward, explained that the gesture was meant to support the widows and the less previlege, adding that they needs to be catered for, considering the economic situation of the country.

He said, “I facilitated this mini empowerment in order to support the old women and less previlege youths in the community, because the economic of the country is critical and food is expensive.”

When asked whether the kind gesture is politically influenced, Olarewaju said, “the sponsor, Engr. Ibrahim Aduagba is a philanthropist who has been giving succour to the widows for a long time occasionally. He has been helping the needy in the society even without seeking political offices.”

He explained that the beneficiaries were selected based on the level of their needs, adding that, “APC, SDP and YPP members are among the beneficiaries.”

While advising the beneficiaries not to commercialize the packages given to them, Olarewaju assured those that do not benefit of getting theirs in subsequent empowerment programs.

Olarewaju who faulted the poor economic state of the country on the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, called on Kwarans to canvass support and vote all PDP candidates at all levels, noting that, “PDP is the only party that will ensure citizens enjoy the true dividends of democracy.”

Meanwhile the beneficiaries in their numbers appreciated Engr. Abdulraheem for supporting them, praying to God to replenish his wealth and bless him abundantly.
