Oyo Declares Three-Day Mourning for Akeredolu
The directive, issued on Thursday, includes the order for all flags at public offices in the state to be flown at half-mast during this mourning period.


Oyo State Governor and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared a three-day state mourning period for the late Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The directive, issued on Thursday, includes the order for all flags at public offices in the state to be flown at half-mast during this mourning period.
The announcement, conveyed in a statement by the Special Adviser Media to Oyo State Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, detailed Governor Makinde’s visit, alongside Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, to the Ibadan home of the late Ondo State governor.
Akeredolu, aged 67, succumbed to prostate cancer on Wednesday.
His return from Germany was followed by his stay at his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Governor Makinde had earlier visited the late governor’s family in Ibadan on Wednesday.
