In Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, a scene unfolded on Tuesday as women marched to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) office.

They expressed frustration over the inability to engage in marital relations due to the intense heat caused by power outages.

Holding placards with messages like ‘No Light, No Payment’ and ‘The Heat is too much,’ they highlighted the hardships they face, including the inability to store food and the disruption of their businesses.

Maria Ike, the leader of the protesters, emphasized their plight, citing the strain on their marriages and livelihoods. PHED’s Public Relations Officer, Livingstone Koko, acknowledged the widespread issue of poor power supply in the country and assured that efforts were underway to address it in the state.
