Twenty four hours to the conduct of the governorship primary on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), two of the six aspirants had withdrawn from the race.
According to the daily independent’s report that Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and Dele Adeleke announced their withdrawal from the race while alleging favouritism towards a particular aspirant.
Ogunbiyi alleged that he was withdrawing from the race because the national leadership of the party are biased in the conduct of the exercise, adding that based on this reason, there is no point for him wasting his money on what had already been determined.
He explained that all arrangements on the conduct of the primary election had been skewed to favour Senator Ademola Adeleke stressing that the exercise is a sham.
But Dele Adeleke said his withdrawal from the race does not portend that he would work against the interest of the party.
He, however, explained that he was ready to work for the party to win the July 16 governorship election in the state.
