As part of the year 2021 Zonal Intervention Projects facilitated to empower the people of Kwara Central, the Senator representing the District at the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has today provided starter kits for 245 artisans drawn from the four Local Government Areas making up the constituency.
The empowerment program held today at the open field of Lower Niger River Basin, Fate Basin area, Ilorin had working tools of various categories such as motorcycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, refrigerators, irrigation farming machines, as well as kits for tilers, plumbers, hairdressers, electricians, mechanics, among others distributed to the happy beneficiaries.
Speaking with the journalists at the event, Senator Oloriegbe noted that the empowerment which was not first of its kind is a strategic one aimed to bring about the dividends of democracy to his people, especially, the artisans whom he described as critical stakeholders in the Nation economy.
He however enjoins the beneficiaries not to sell the kits provided to them but to use them judiciously to upscale their businesses and provide employment opportunities for others.
Also speaking at the event, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state, who expressed his joy of witnessing another empowerment programme facilitated by Senator Oloriegbe, appreciated the lawmaker for the continuous intervention projects he is using his good office to bring to Kwara state.
Other speakers and representatives of the beneficiaries also showered encomiums on the Senator for his intervention and tasked the beneficiaries to use the kits afforded them judiciously to better their lives and that of other people.
The event has in attendance, Hon. Commissioner for Works and Rural Development, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Ilias, General Manager of KWEPA, Alh. Ayub Saad Dan Musa, Hon. Akaje Ibrahim, party chieftains, stakeholders, heads of Kwara State chapter of Artisan Congress amongst others.
