Spotify has designated Olamide Adedeji, widely known as “Olamide,” as the most influential street pop artist of his generation.

The announcement, made by Spotify’s Editor for West Africa, Benewaah Boateng, highlights Olamide’s consistent impact in propelling Street Pop into mainstream recognition.

Boateng notes Olamide’s contributions to popularizing dance styles like “Shakiti Bobo” and street lingos such as “Baddo Sneh” and “Pepper Dem.”

Furthermore, Olamide, through his record label YBNL, has played a pivotal role in discovering and nurturing emerging talents in the street pop genre.

Street Pop’s growing significance in the Nigerian music landscape is acknowledged, with Boateng expressing anticipation for its continued growth in the mainstream.

Notably, Olamide holds the ninth position in Spotify’s list of the top 10 artists in Nigeria.
