Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun recently presented the state police with 25 new patrol vehicles and a high-tech surveillance drone.

Lekan Adeniran, the governor’s chief press secretary, said the donation took place during a three-day visit by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to Ogun last week.

In a statement, Abiodun noted that over the past 18 months, Ogun has supplied security agencies with more than 100 vehicles, 100 motorbikes, and over 300 walkie-talkies, among other resources, contributing to the state’s reputation for being one of the most peaceful in the country.

During the visit, Egbetokun announced plans to expand police presence in Ogun by creating more police stations and area commands to keep pace with the state’s development.

He emphasized Ogun’s significance as Nigeria’s industrial hub, stating that the police would do everything possible to maintain security in the region.

The governor expressed his gratitude for the IGP’s visit and praised his leadership, intelligence, and commitment to duty.

Abiodun highlighted the IGP’s efforts to improve police-citizen relations, resulting in increased trust in the police force.

Regarding the surveillance drone, Abiodun said it was part of the Ogun government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of residents and travelers.

He mentioned that the drone would be especially useful for monitoring the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, a crucial but historically vulnerable route through the state.

Abiodun also noted that the collaboration between the Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo state police commands, along with other law enforcement agencies, has helped reduce crime and improve security along this critical corridor.
