Ogun Assembly Speaker impeached
Following his impeachment, Oludaisi Elemide was promptly elected as the new Speaker.

Kunle Oluomo has faced impeachment as the Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker, with 18 out of 36 members voting for his removal due to allegations of embezzlement, highhandedness, and related offenses during a Tuesday plenary session.
Following his impeachment, Oludaisi Elemide was promptly elected as the new Speaker.
This development follows Oluomo’s arraignment by the EFCC on September 6, 2022, in connection with an alleged N2.475bn money laundering case, along with three others.
The charges include conspiracy, forgery, stealing, and money laundering, spanning the period from 2019 to 2022 in Ogun State. Oluomo, however, was granted bail as the trial progresses.
