In a Monday night English Premier League (EPL) match at Selhurst Park, Martin Odegaard’s second-half penalty proved decisive as ten-man Arsenal triumphed 1-0 over Crystal Palace.

Arsenal’s captain gradually asserted his presence in the London derby, capitalizing on an impeccably executed penalty kick.

Although Jurren Timber was sidelined due to injury, Oleksandr Zinchenko returned for Arsenal, and Eddie Nketiah led the attacking front.

During the first half, Nketiah came closest to scoring, but he struggled to convert promising opportunities, even hitting the post.

Finally, on the 54th minute, he earned the penalty that Odegaard confidently converted, after being brought down by the Palace goalkeeper.

However, Arsenal faced a setback when Takehiro Tomiyasu received his second yellow card and was sent off in the 67th minute. Despite this, they showcased a solid defensive performance to safeguard their victory.

Mikel Arteta’s squad has now secured victories in both of their league matches this season, continuing an impressive streak of 13 undefeated London derbies, with 11 of those resulting in victories.

With six points each, Arsenal, Brighton, and Manchester City are currently joint leaders of the EPL.
