NOA Orders Community Officers to Learn New Anthem Within 72 Hours

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has instructed all community orientation and mobilisation officers in the 774 local government areas (LGAs) to memorize the reinstated national anthem by June 3.
The agency stated that these officers will serve as “grassroots marshals” to implement the new government policy.
NOA also mentioned collaborating with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to ensure that schools nationwide adopt the current national anthem.
On Wednesday, President Tinubu signed a bill to revert to the old national anthem.
In a statement, NOA’s Deputy Director of Press, Paul Odenyi, quoted Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu, saying the directive aims to facilitate a smooth transition to the new anthem.
Issa-Onilu emphasized that the return of the old anthem is part of a national identity initiative to foster cohesion and patriotism among citizens.
“We are excited to embark on this new chapter in our national history,” Issa-Onilu said. “We believe that this new national anthem will inspire a sense of pride and unity among Nigerians, and we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to it.”
