No plan to ban Osimhen from Eagles – NFF
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied claims that it is planning to ban Victor Osimhen from the Super Eagles due to his recent social media outburst.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NFF labeled the reports as “outright falsehood” and clarified that no disciplinary process has been initiated or concluded against the Napoli striker.
Osimhen’s controversial remarks on Instagram Live, where he criticized former Super Eagles coach George Finidi for allegedly suggesting that he feigned an injury to miss national team games, sparked significant debate on social media. While some Nigerians backed Osimhen, others called for disciplinary action against him.
Despite the uproar, the NFF emphasized that its current focus is on resolving issues within the Super Eagles and preparing for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed surprise at the false reports, reiterating that the federation has not taken any steps to ban Osimhen from the national team.
