No Formal Request Received for Use of Eagle Square for August 1 Protest – Wike Says

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has not yet received a formal request to use Eagle Square for a protest planned to begin on August 1.
During a town hall meeting with key stakeholders in the FCT on Saturday, Wike addressed the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest. He emphasized that no official letter had been submitted to his office regarding the use of Eagle Square for the event.
Wike advised the protesters to follow proper procedures rather than relying solely on social media to communicate with his office. He reiterated his earlier stance against the protest, saying, “For those who want to protest on the 1st, FCT is not available for such protests,” and urged residents to refrain from participating in such activities.
The town hall meeting on Saturday included the FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, representatives of political parties, and women and youth groups, among others.
The purpose of the meeting was to establish a communication channel between the FCT administration and residents, addressing their concerns with the current leadership and discussing potential solutions.
