National Assembly Approves 2024 Budget, Increases Funding by N1 Trillion to N28.7 Trillion
The bill, presented for the third reading, allocates N1.7 trillion for statutory transfers, N8.7 trillion for recurrent expenditure, and N9.9 trillion for capital expenditure.
The 2024 appropriation bill has been approved by both chambers of the National Assembly, raising the budget from President Bola Tinubu’s proposed N27.5 trillion to N28.7 trillion, reflecting an increase of N1.2 trillion.
The bill, presented for the third reading, allocates N1.7 trillion for statutory transfers, N8.7 trillion for recurrent expenditure, and N9.9 trillion for capital expenditure.
The lower legislative chamber also passed the bill after a town hall meeting where citizens contributed to the money bill, emphasizing collaboration between the national assembly and the executive on budget matters.
