Napoli suffered a 2-0 loss to Roma in the Italian Serie A, with Victor Osimhen receiving a red card for two fouls within 12 minutes.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker, who recently extended his contract with the club, was dismissed, joining Matteo Politano, his strike partner, who had already been sent off earlier.

The intense match saw a total of 11 yellow cards, and coaches from both teams were booked for complaining.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho accused Osimhen of play-acting in the first half, resulting in a cheeky exchange that concluded with a kiss on the cheek.

Osimhen received his first yellow card on 75 minutes and a second on 87 minutes, vehemently disagreeing with his dismissal.

This marked the second red card in Osimhen’s career with Napoli. Romelu Lukaku, Roma’s striker, secured the win with a second goal deep into added time after Lorenzo Pellegrini put them ahead on 76 minutes.

Napoli, now in seventh place on the Serie A table, dropped points and positions with 27 points from 17 matches, replaced by Roma who climbed above them with the victory.
