My Feud with Amosun Personal, Private – Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, characterizes the conflicts with his predecessor, Ibikunle Amosun, as “personal.” 

During a Channels Television interview on Sunday Politics, Abiodun asserts that the reconciliation process between them is a private matter, emphasizing its potential limited impact on the socioeconomic development of Ogun State or the nation. 

When questioned about reconciling with Amosun, he states, “The issue of reconciliation, I believe those are issues that are personal issues.” 

Abiodun questions the relevance of their reconciliation to the overall development of Ogun State or the country.

The longstanding feud between Amosun, who governed Ogun State from 2011 to 2019, and Abiodun, who assumed office in 2019, continues. Both politicians, despite being members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), operate from different support camps in the state. 

In the March 2023 election, Amosun, despite his APC affiliation, supported the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Biyi Otegbeye, while Abiodun secured re-election.

In May, tensions escalated as Abiodun and Amosun exchanged blame regarding the location of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Plant.
