Mohbad’s family conducts fresh autopsy

The family of Mohbad has conducted a new toxicology test to investigate the cause of the singer’s death.
Mohbad, whose birth name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away under unexplained circumstances on September 12 and was buried the following day. His body was exhumed on September 21, and an autopsy was performed that same day.
In May, Wahab Shittu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), reported that the pathologist informed the coroner that Mohbad’s body had decomposed by the time of the autopsy, making it impossible to determine the cause of death.
On June 7, TheCable Lifestyle obtained Mohbad’s autopsy results from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), which revealed no significant findings contributing to his death. The toxicology report detected Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, but at non-lethal levels.
Last month, the Aloba family rejected these results and called for an independent post-mortem and toxicology examination.
On Tuesday, Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, announced that a two-part autopsy is underway. The first phase was completed last week, while the second phase includes a toxicology and histology test.
According to Odumosu, the second autopsy, requested by the Aloba family and ordered by Magistrate Ms. T.A. Shotobi, took place on July 19 and 20, 2024. This process was observed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, as well as a pathologist appointed by him and one representing Wunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife.
The statement noted that if the cause of death remains unclear after the initial examination, the second phase will proceed with the additional toxicology and histology tests on the samples collected.
