Meta reacts to Global Facebook, Instagram Outage
Meta spokesman Andy Stone acknowledged the issue, stating, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” in a post on X.

Meta announced on Tuesday that it is investigating widespread outages affecting its Facebook, Instagram, and Threads platforms, which have resulted in users being unable to access their accounts worldwide.
Meta spokesman Andy Stone acknowledged the issue, stating, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” in a post on X.
According to reports from the DownDetector website, Facebook experienced a peak of around 500,000 outage reports at 10:30 am US East Coast time (1530 GMT), while Instagram saw approximately 70,000 reports at the same time.
Threads, launched as a rival to Twitter in 2023, also experienced outages, although WhatsApp, Meta’s messaging service, appeared unaffected.
Facebook’s status page for advertisers indicated “major disruptions” on the site and assured that “engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
Users attempting to access Facebook were prompted to log in but were unable to sign in even with the correct password, while Instagram mobile users found their feeds not refreshing.
With three billion active monthly users, Facebook remains the world’s largest social media platform.
