Martin Odegaard, Arsenal’s captain, has committed to a fresh long-term contract with the club.

The Norwegian international, who initially arrived on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021, is now in his fourth season with Arsenal.

He earned the title of Player of the Season last year, scoring 15 goals in the Premier League from midfield, jointly topping the club’s scoring charts.

Odegaard’s exceptional performances in the 2022/23 season earned him accolades like a place in the PFA Team of the Year and nominations for Premier League awards.

Additionally, he was named the Premier League Player of the Month for November/December 2022.

Known for his remarkable vision and footballing intelligence, Martin Odegaard has been a standout performer. He made his senior debut for Stromsgodset at just 15 years old and subsequently joined Real Madrid, becoming their youngest player at 16 years and 157 days. Before joining Arsenal, he had successful loan spells in Holland and Spain.

Odegaard’s contributions have extended beyond the pitch, as he became Norway’s youngest-ever player in August 2014 and has been the captain of the national team since March 2021. In the current season, he has already made a strong impact with three goals in seven games across all competitions.

In response to his contract extension, Odegaard expressed his excitement about being part of Arsenal’s journey, stating that he has found a true home at the club. Sporting Director Edu praised Odegaard’s qualities and emphasized the importance of retaining key players. Manager Mikel Arteta highlighted Odegaard’s leadership, professionalism, and footballing abilities, expressing his delight at having the player settled at the club.
