Manchester United has received another setback on Friday as their in-form striker Rasmus Hojlund was sidelined for up to three weeks due to a muscle injury.

The Danish player had netted seven goals in his last six Premier League games, a sharp turnaround after going goalless in his first 14 appearances for the club.

As a result, he will miss Saturday’s match against Fulham and is expected to be absent for the upcoming Manchester City derby and the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Nottingham Forest on February 28.

United confirmed Hojlund’s injury in a statement, stating that it is anticipated to sideline him for two to three weeks. Since his £64 million move from Atalanta, the 20-year-old has scored a total of 13 goals in his debut season in England.

His absence adds to United’s injury concerns, with Luke Shaw facing a lengthy spell out due to a hamstring injury and Lisandro Martinez also sidelined with knee ligament damage.

Despite these setbacks, United have won their last four league matches, placing them back in contention for a top-four finish. They currently trail fourth-placed Aston Villa by five points and are just three points behind Tottenham in fifth.

The possibility of securing Champions League qualification remains crucial for the club, as emphasized by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who highlighted the importance of Champions League revenues for strengthening the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window without violating financial fair play regulations.
