The 31-year-old midfielder, after returning as captain in the League Cup match against Newcastle following a three-match absence, had to be substituted at half-time due to the injury.

The club stated that Casemiro’s hamstring strain, sustained during the Newcastle United game, will keep him out for a considerable duration.

This setback adds to the challenges faced by manager Erik ten Hag, with United’s struggles in the Premier League, currently ranking eighth with five defeats in their initial 10 games and a tough road ahead to progress in the Champions League.
