West Ham has secured Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a reported fee of £15 million ($19 million), with the deal finalized on Tuesday.

Wan-Bissaka, 26, signed a seven-year contract with the Hammers after five years at Old Trafford. During his time with United, he made 190 appearances following his 2019 transfer from Crystal Palace.

The right-back featured in United’s unexpected FA Cup final victory against Manchester City last season, but he was not part of manager Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming season.

“Being back in London feels incredible, and I’m thrilled about what lies ahead,” said Wan-Bissaka. “I was born here, and London has always been a significant part of my life, so returning to play in this city is special.”

Manchester United is reportedly set to sign Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui as a replacement for Wan-Bissaka.

Wan-Bissaka becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the transfer window, following the acquisitions of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodríguez.

“I’m eager to get on the pitch, meet my new teammates, and push forward from there,” Wan-Bissaka added. “I see a team united with a strong drive to win, and one that supports each other through thick and thin.”

West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, emphasized that Wan-Bissaka’s Premier League experience would be a significant asset for the club’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui. Wan-Bissaka could make his debut in West Ham’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 17.

“He’s precisely the kind of player we want to bring to this club during the prime years of his career,” said Steidten. “He’s an exceptionally talented defender, outstanding in one-on-one situations, and versatile—qualities we highly value. With over 170 Premier League appearances, he’s well-versed in the demands of this league.”
