Manchester United has confirmed that Antony will remain away from the club until he clears his name from the assault allegations lodged against him.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the club expressed awareness of the accusations against the Brazilian winger and specified that he has been instructed to delay his return until the situation is resolved.

The statement from Manchester United further emphasized their stance against acts of violence and abuse, recognizing the significance of safeguarding all parties involved and acknowledging the impact of such allegations on abuse survivors.

Antony’s exclusion from the Brazil national team was prompted by the assault allegations made by his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavalin.

Cavalin detailed the alleged incident to Brazilian news outlet UOL, alleging that Antony had threatened her and physically assaulted her with a glass during an incident in a Manchester hotel room on January 15. She sustained a head injury that required medical attention.

According to Cavalin, Antony had made menacing threats, asserting that if she didn’t stay with him, dire consequences would follow. She claimed to have been in a state of fear due to his actions.

While Antony has vehemently denied the allegations, both Manchester and Sao Paulo authorities are actively investigating the matter. Antony is the second Manchester United player, following Mason Greenwood, to face accusations of assault in recent years.
