In a noteworthy development, Senate President Godswill Akpabio formally presented Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represents Anambra South, to Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This introduction took place at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja, with Ubah, a two-term senator previously under the Young Progressive Party (YPP), officially joining the ruling APC earlier that day.

His defection stemmed from irreconcilable disagreements within his former party.

Senator Ubah, elegantly clad in a white Babaringa and a traditional red cap, arrived at the party secretariat around 4:15 pm, accompanied by the Senate president.

The news of Ubah’s switch to the APC was publicly announced within the Senate Chamber on the same day.

In a letter signed by Senator Ubah, he conveyed, “I hereby formally apprise the Distinguished Senate President and our esteemed colleagues of the insurmountable differences between me and the leadership of my former party.

I have consequently made the decision to transition from the Young Progressive Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“After careful consideration and extensive consultations with the members of my community, constituents, and key stakeholders in Anambra State, along with a thorough evaluation of the political landscape in Nigeria, I have come to the realization that the APC, particularly under the leadership of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is better suited to uphold the principles and ideals I hold dear.”
