KWSPHCDA Boss, Dr. Nusirat Elelu Advocates Empathetic Communication in Healthcare

In a compelling and insightful address delivered at the opening ceremony of a Capacity Building event, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of Kwara State Primary Healthcare Developments Agency (KWSPHCDA), has urged health workers in the state to prioritize empathetic communication with patients.

The event, which centered on In-Patient Childhood pneumonia treatment algorithm, hypoxemia, and the overall improvement of interpersonal skills, took place in Omu-Aran, Kwara State. 

Dr. Elelu’s emphasis on empathy reflects a conscious effort to elevate the quality of healthcare services across the state.

During her speech, Dr. Elelu highlighted the vital role of health workers in fostering positive patient experiences through compassionate communication. 

She underscored the significance of the training, stating that its primary objective is to contribute to the overall enhancement of healthcare services in Kwara State.

“This training is a strategic initiative for the overall improvement of healthcare service in Kwara State,” Dr. Elelu stated. 

In addition to advocating for empathetic communication, Dr. Elelu urged participants at the event to engage in authentic listening as a means to acquire the essential knowledge imparted during the training. 

This call for active participation aligns with the agency’s mission to empower healthcare professionals with the skills necessary for providing exceptional care.
